IMCA Insights – November 2006
Brief IMCA Newsletter
by Anne Black

Our IMCA Insights editor, Norbert Classen, is very busy this month, copying and moving data, links, etc. from our old website to the new one (more about that very soon) so I belatedly volunteered to write a short newsletter.

In fact I have two newsworthy items to share with you:

The Exportation of Libyan Desert Glass from Egypt

If you have ever passed through the Airport of Cairo, you will have noticed a large display case with archaeological artifacts, prehistoric tools, and other artifacts, and a big sign warning you in blunt, un-equivocal language that the exportation of these items was forbidden by law, and that any attempt to circumvent that law would have very serious consequences. I have learned from an absolutely trustworthy source that a few pieces of Libyan Desert Glass were recently placed in that case, and the name was added to the list of prohibited items on the sign. This looks like very bad news for collectors of Libyan Glass since the stocks are dwindling and cannot be replenished.

The Results of the IMCA Annual Elections

I know you have all been waiting impatiently for this:

Three new Directors have been elected to the IMCA Board, in October – Mark Bostick, Pierre-Marie Pelé, and Andrzej Pilski.

So we now have 10 Directors on the Board. They are:

Christian Anger – Austria
Anne Black – Colorado, USA
Mark Bostick – Kansas, USA
Norbert Classen – Germany
Ron Hartman – California, USA
Adam Hupé – Washington, USA
Jeff Kuyken – Australia
Peter Marmet – Switzerland
Pierre-Marie Pelé – France
Andrzej Pilski – Poland

10 Directors, 7 countries – this makes us even more International.

And the IMCA Board Officers are:

Anne Black – President
Norbert Classen – Vice-President
Adam Hupé – Secretary
Mark Bostick – Treasurer

Congratulations to all.
And thank you for your patience.

Anne Black – President IMCA Inc.
